Franklin County Gleaning Assistant Coordinator (bilingual Spanish or Haitian Creole a plus)– interested in being part of the solution to food insecurity in Franklin County? This position works with local farmers, producers, and volunteers to harvest produce that would otherwise go to waste and get it into the hands of food insecure individuals in our county.
The Franklin Gleaning Assistant will support the Gleaning Project in a variety of ways – harvesting produce, keeping the produce stand stocked, unloading or loading deliveries, coordinating pick-ups of produce, distributing produce to community partners, and working with volunteers. Positive attitude required. Ability to speak Spanish or Haitian Creole is a plus. May include some nights or weekends when we do farm gleans.
We are looking for someone who:
- Genuinely enjoys working with people from all walks of life

- Is willing to get your hands dirty to help feed food insecure individuals
- Is ready to jump in, lifting up to 50 pounds, moving food with a pallet jack, and getting behind the wheel of a box truck

Requirements
· Must be able to, and enjoy, interacting with people of all walks of life.
· Must have excellent written and verbal skills, including public speaking.
· Strong organizational skills in managing complex tasks with autonomy.
· Must love veggies and be willing to get your hands dirty harvesting them.
· Will be required to help develop an open, supportive, enjoyable, empowering organizational culture for growers, volunteers, and recipients alike.
· Must be a visionary and detail oriented.
· Must have a clean driving record, current driver’s license and the ability (or willingness to learn) to drive a box truck and fork-lift (no special license required)
· Must be able to lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) and be on your feet for long periods of time.
· The ability and willingness to work nights and weekends.
