Summary: As a member of the Martin’s Family, The Assistant Maintenance Manager – Mechanical coordinates and directs the design, planning, construction, maintenance, and alteration of equipment, machinery, buildings, and other facilities by performing the below duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.  The Assistant Maintenance Manager – Mechanical is a person of integrity and respect who provides general maintenance direction and support in an effort to create a productive, safe and compliant work environment.  The Assistant Maintenance Manager – Mechanical represents a communicator on a unified team by committing to share helpful knowledge with teammates and improving communication channels.  As an Ambassador for Martin’s, the Assistant Maintenance Manager – Mechanical will relate, inspire, and create a positive work environment that fosters employee enjoyment, growth, productivity and safety.
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
 
·         Determine schedules, sequences, and assignments for work activities, based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.
·         Monitors work areas, tools and equipment in order to detect unsafe conditions or violations of procedures or safety rules.
·         Monitor employees' work levels and review work performance.
·         Adheres to and reinforces Martin’s culture initiatives.
·         Reviews preventative maintenance frequency and default time review with maintenance supervisors, trainer, and planner as needed.
·         Manage KPIs and uses information to determine root cause of inefficiencies to implement corrective action.
·         Ensures work is being accurately captured in EAM system.
·         Manage levels of learning program by reviewing all levels annual with maintenance leadership and trainer.
·         Ensure that work orders are completed in appropriate timeframes.
·         Work with appropriate departments and staff to schedule plant downtime to meet project needs.
·         Ensures accountability with employees is fair and consistent with leadership team.
·         Ensures team is adequately trained in safety, repair, maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.
·         Ensures cleanliness of maintenance areas is maintained, including the shop, electrical room, parts room, or any other area’s used by the maintenance team.
·         Oversees and directs maintenance personnel and workers engaged in facilities equipment repair and preventive maintenance.
·         Utilizes various data to analyze effectiveness of the maintenance program and makes changes as necessary. Examples would include downtime, scrap, PM completion, break down calls, etc.  
·         Oversees preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
·         Oversees parts room inventory.
·         Reports, enforces and adheres to safety, food safety and quality regulations and policies.
  • Authorized to address safety, food safety and quality issues identified and reported by management and employees.
 
Supervisor Responsibilities:
 
Directly supervises employees in the Maintenance Department as it relates to Maintenance Technicians and Supervisors, Parts Room and Inventory personnel, and the Maintenance Planner.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; attending leadership development courses as offered and leading company culture initiatives.

Education and/or Experience: 
·         High School Diploma or GED;
·         Bachelor's Degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university and three to five years related supervisory experience and/or training, preferred;
·         Associates Degree and five to seven years related supervisory experience and/or training;
·         Seven to ten years related supervisory experience without Bachelor’s Degree.
 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
·         Valid Passport book or the ability to obtain one within 3 months of hire.
 
Computer Skills:   
·         Knowledge of Design software.
·         Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.      
 
Other Qualifications:
  • Travel up to 10% of time
 
Language Skills:    
 
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
 
Mathematical Skills:   
 
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
 
Reasoning Ability:  
 
 Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
