The Accounting Assistant reports directly to the CFO and provides support across multiple functions within DHM's Accounting Department. This position is ideal for an organized, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and contributing to a team-oriented culture.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide backup support for weekly payroll processing for 200+ employees
- Process weekly payroll direct deposit, shop transfer, and positive pay files to the bank
- Assist with Accounts Payable invoice entry and matching
- Process Accounts Receivable deposits
- Assist with collections, reporting, and customer account follow-up
- Prepare and enter miscellaneous journal entries
- Process monthly vehicle registration renewals and inspections
- Manage various licenses and permit renewals
- Set up and assign equipment numbers
- Process insurance certificate requests and renewals
- Assist the estimating department with job documentation and software uploads
- Maintain and track fleet and fuel card programs
- Manage company phone inventory and related records
- Provide backup support for front desk operations
- Prepare and maintain spreadsheets and reports
- Assist with additional accounting and administrative functions as assigned
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience required
- Construction industry accounting experience preferred
- Knowledge of payroll processing, preferably within the construction industry
- Experience with job costing and construction cost codes is a plus
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities
- Proficient in data management and data entry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
