News from Allison-Antrim Museum

Allison-Antrim Museum, 365 South Ridge Avenue, Greencastle, Pennsylvania 17225 will hold its monthly speaker meeting on Thursday, October 10, 2024, in the German Bank Barn beginning at 7 p.m.  The facility is wheelchair accessible.

Andy Stout, Executive Director of the Washington County Historical Society, will be speaking about the Historical Society and some of the organization’s recent and upcoming projects. The home of the WCHS is in the historic 1825 Miller House which was originally built for William Price, a prominent local attorney. It became known as the Miller House in 1911 when it was sold to Dr. Victor Davis Miller.

Stout is a native of Greencastle, PA and graduated from GAHS in 1989. He received a BA in Sociology from Shippensburg, PA and holds an MA in Public Anthropology from American University in Washington, DC. Stout has previously worked with the National Park Service, The National Archives and Records Administration’s Presidential Materials Staff, The Archaeological Conservancy and has over 25 years of museum, conservation, and archaeological experience. While working for The Archeological Conservancy, Stout was responsible for the permanent conservation of more archaeological sites in the Northeast United States than any other person. Locally, he was a primary force in the creation of the Ebbert Spring Archaeological Preserve & Heritage Park in Antrim Township, which opened in 2019, the care of which is now the responsibility of Allison-Antrim Museum.
