Description
Free program presented by Buttonwood Nature Center in partnership with Antietam Watershed Association. Speakers are Brent Walls, Upper Potomac Riverkeeper, and Bergen Hubert, product chemistry and sustainability professional. Learn about PFAS in the Potomac Watershed. (PFAS = per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances). You will hear why PFAS (forever chemicals) are a ubiquitous pollutant with many sources and how it moves through our environment and contaminates our bodies. Walls will also discuss Potomac Riverkeeper Network strategies that focus on military bases and biosolids, including legislation, community projects and enforcement actions. Free test kits available for community members to check their own water supplies. Hubert will speak on how New Balance is working to phase PFAS out of production of their goods.
