ChambersFest Restaurant Week
Help us celebrate ChambersFest 2016 with the first ever ChambersFest Restaurant Week! From Saturday, July 9 through Saturday, July 16 visit participating restaurants to take advantage of their ChambersFest Restaurant Week Specials and enter to win daily prizes! Restaurant Week is sponsored by Johnnie's Restaurant & Hotel Service, Inc.

Saturday, July 9
13th Annual Tim & Susan Cook Memorial 1-Mile Race
7 to 9:30 a.m. - Chambersburg Memorial YMCA
Proceeds from this race are donated to the Tim & Susan Cook Memorial Scholarship Fund, which provides scholarships to students at Chambersburg Area Senior High School. 7 a.m. Registration begins at the Chambersburg Memorial YMCA; 8 a.m. Women’s/Girl’s Race/Walk; 8:30 a.m. Men’s/Boy’s Race/Walk; 9:30 a.m. Results Ceremony.
Register: $15 per entry without T-shirt, $20 per entry with T-shirt by June 26. Register here. (Day-of registration is $18 without T-shirt, $22 with T-shirt.)

ChambersFest Bike Day
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. - Chambersburg Bike Park
Compete in one or more of three bicycle events: Pump Track Race; Best Trick Jump Contest; and Short Track Cross-Country Race at the Chambersburg Bike Park. Various categories to include ages 6 to adults. Registration and practice from 9-11 a.m., racing begins at 11 a.m. Helmets required.

Scoop-a-Palooza
11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Chambersburg Area Senior High School
Enjoy all-you-can-eat ice cream samples from local ice cream shops! Once you enter the festival you can sample all the ice cream you want from a variety of area shops and then be sure to vote for your favorite flavors in each of the 5 categories! Proceeds raise money for educational programs offered through the Greater Chambersburg Chamber Foundation.

Second Saturday
5 to 10 p.m. - Chambers Fort Park
Second Saturdays are back this summer! The free event features outdoor concerts at Chambers Fort Park from 5-8 p.m., followed by an outdoor family-friendly film beginning at dusk. July's event features live music from Wings That Buzz with opening act Jon Ingels, followed by a showing of Back to the Future. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets, chairs and picnics.

LINCOLN
Two showings: 3 & 6 p.m. - The Capitol Theatre
The Capitol Theatre will be showing LINCOLN (2012) on the big screen. Starring Daniel Day-Lewis and directed by Steven Spielberg, this film chronicles the President's time in office between 1861 and 1865 as he dealt with personal demons and politics during the Civil War. Prior to the featured movie will be a short film about The Burning of Chambersburg beginning at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. The showing is sponsored by the Franklin County Visitors Bureau.

1864 Civil War Ball
6:30 to 9:30 p.m. - Allison-Antrim Museum in Greencastle
The Civil War Ball offers a glimpse of Victorian culture and a respite from the reality of America’s strife. Participants will be guided by the Victorian Dance Ensemble, the performing troupe of the Civil War Dance Foundation, and are invited to dress in Civil War era attire, contemporary formal attire, or contemporary business attire.

Old Market Day
9 a.m. to 4 p.m. - Downtown Chambersburg
A ChambersFest tradition, this street festival in downtown Chambersburg features art, craft and food vendors, kids activities, entertainment on two stages and the North Square Farmers Market.

Celebrate Music at Old Market Day
9 to 11 a.m. - First United Methodist Church
Cumberland Valley School of Music will present performances by local student musicians. At 9 a.m., CVSM Voice and Drama Camp will present a mini-musical version of "The Sound of Music" performed by students in grades 4-8. Next will be CVSM Voice and Drama Camp Jr. presenting "Friend on the Farm" featuring students in grades 1-3. The final performance will be songs, dances and artwork by Sam's Music Camp.

ChambersFest 7s Rugby Tournament
9 a.m. - Chambersburg Area Middle School South
ChambersFest 7s is a school-age rugby tournament offering competitive divisions for high school boys (U19), high school girls (U19), junior high boys (U15) and middle school boys (U13). There will also be a free youth rugby clinic for grade school kids. Concessions will be offered and athletic trainers will be onsite. Spectator admission is free.

1864: The Burning
6 to 10 p.m. - Downtown Chambersburg
As darkness approaches, the town will transform to 1864 and the story of the town’s ransoming, burning and rebirth will come to life with incredible light and atmospheric effects. A variety of activities will lead up to the reenactment of the Burning of Chambersburg light show. These include historic walking tours, living history, exhibits, prizes, giveaways, old-fashioned photo booth, pets from the Cumberland Valley Animal Shelter, book signings, glow-in-the-dark face painting, and fun for kids. Throughout the event, Confederate soldiers will be attempting to gather ransom money from the crowd, which will be donated to Franklin County Habitat for Humanity.

A Cappella & Unplugged
7 p.m. - Downtown Chambersburg
The highlight event preceding the 1864 light show is the final round of A Cappella & Unplugged, performed on the steps of the courthouse. Spectators can vote for their favorite act and have their in-person vote tabulated with online voting to select the winner, who will received $500 and bragging rights to the 2nd annual talent search contest.

lluminate Party
10 p.m. - The Capitol Theatre
Be sure to attend the free-admittance Illuminate Party after the light show to view a transformative art installation, enjoy more music from contestants of A Cappella & Unplugged, and have some fun with black light and karaoke.
