Description
Geologist Jeri Jones presents a quick-paced and informative program on fascinating aspects of the local underground world. “What Do Our Local Landscapes Tell Us About the Geology?” combines fun with education and continues the popular “Renfrew Rocks!” annual geology series. The program will highlight the types of rocks found in the local region and their importance to a geologist, as well as mineral resources, geologic hazards and some of the new geologic discoveries in the area.
“Waynesboro is positioned within the Great Valley Section known for its limestone,” Jones said. “Participants will be amazed to discover what this area went through over the past one billion years.” This free program will be helpful to those attending the May and June geology field trips, led by Jones. Audience questions are welcome, and door prizes will be awarded. For more information visit www.renfrewinstitute.org or call 717-762-0373.
