Franklin County Public Library Week
April 7-13, 2019
The Office of the Franklin County Commissioners has proclaimed April 7-13, 2019, Franklin County Public Library Week. The Franklin County Library System is made up of seven librarybranches, including two outreach vehicles: the Bookmobile and the Preschool Book Buggy. Collectively, the FCLS mission is, “To create learning opportunities that lead to personaldiscovery, growth, and enjoyment.” This year, Franklin County residents are invited to their local libraries to Embrace Differences in Our Community. In 2019 our libraries will be celebrating all of the wonderful people who make up Franklin County. Please check out our FCLS Facebook page, an individual library’s Facebook page, or go to fclspa.org to see what special events are going on during library week and throughout the year. With a collection of over 250,000 items available for circulation, the library has something for everyone! Additionally, the Franklin County Library System offers free internet access, multiple and varied online databases, and opportunities to connect with the greater community through on-site programs for both adults and children. Ongoing community programs include: language classes, painting and handcrafts, military history, read-to-a-dog nights, Lego clubs, movie screenings, book discussions, photography and cooking groups, and many more. These diverse offerings are open to everyone. They are the result of the collective efforts of library patrons, valuable volunteers, community partners, and knowledgeable staff. In addition to celebrating Franklin County Public Library Week, the FCLS Annual Appeal Campaign kicks off in April. Our libraries could not provide the services that they do without the generous support of our donors. Our sincere thanks go to Patriot Federal Credit Union for sponsoring the Annual Appeal, which makes it possible for all donations to be used directly on library services. With the community’s ongoing financial commitment, FCLS is able to offer an atmosphere that encourages discovery. Donors can give online at https://interland3.donorperfect.net/weblink/weblink.aspx?name=E165062&id=2 or at any FCLS library branch.
